| Institutional Biography: |
The Institute of Rural Development Planning (IRDP) was officially established by the Act of Parliament No.8 of 1980 as a body corporate and an important national centre for providing training, research and consultancy services in the field of rural development planning. Over 30 years, IRDP has grown in terms of academic programmes offering awards of certificate, diplomas, degrees at undergraduate and post graduate levels; short course programmes, research and consultancy services. All these activities take place at its main campus allocated in Dodoma region, Tanzania.
Based on the aforesaid and high demand for professional planners at various spatial levels in Tanzania, IRDP Governing Council at its 93rd sitting, endorsed establishment of Institute of Rural Development Planning Lake Zone Training Centre in Mwanza city. Following this decision, IRDP management made modest arrangement to start operations of IRDP-LZC on 25th September, 2011. The Centre has been established to extend and compliment efforts of contributing to the vision and mission of the Institute of Rural Development Planning. Principally, it is a typical component of the IRDP main campus located in Dodoma region. In this case, the centre is organizationally respond to the systems, strategies, style of management, organization culture, staff (performance and motivation) and structures from the main campus.
